Elle Carpenter - Beneath Still Waters

We added Elle Carpenters song Beneath Still Waters on our Spotify playlist Best Indie Country 2021.

Elles new album What Happens Now is a compilation of old and new material, intentionally diverse, and the first record that she has ever co-produced.  She grew up singing folk, world, classical and musical theatre, with a variety of groups including her large family. She intended to maintain this musical diversity as she continued to write and release music, allowing herself to incorporate other genres she has fallen in love with, like pop, rock, and country. Lately she has appreciated having musical freedom and trusting both herself and those with whom she is working to create the perfect sound for her.

She first recorded Beneath Still Waters when one of her Twitter followers requested she sing it as a YouTube cover song. Singing this song made her want to add it to her regular repertoire, and who better to produce this particular version than Colin McCaffrey, a long time Emmy Lou fan, seasoned producer and singer-songwriter, and a prodigal figure in the Central Vermont music scene, where she grew up.

Originally from Vermont, Elle Carpenter has been singing as long as she’s been walking. Being the youngest child in a large musical family, she learned to sing harmonies from a very young age.  At age 6 Elle had her first studio experience, singing back-up as one of the “Wee-bops” of Central Vermont. At age 8 she joined the Unadilla Players of Calais, VT, fell in love with musical theatre and has been an avid actress ever since. Elle spent her youth recording, touring and performing with her family, and both regional and international singing groups, in addition to heavily pursuing her acting career. 

In 2009 (after recording and releasing her first solo album) Elle was flown to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam to perform at the White Palace Convention Center for a month. Elle has been touring the USA as a solo artist ever since, having released six albums to date. Her latest album “What Happens Now” was released on September 6, 2021.  

Elle resides with her husband and son in Durango, CO, and is represented by an Albuquerque-based-label, Phirgun Music.
