Sara Syms - River of Life

We included Sara Syms' song River of Life at our very exclusive Spotify playlist Best Indie Country 2021.

Recorded at Esplanade Studios in New Orleans (supported by members of Cha Wa, Sweet Crude, Givers, Snarky Puppy, The Dirty Dozen, Naughty Professor), Sara Syms upcoming album The Darkest Light reflects the diversity of today’s New Orleans sound, embracing everything from traditional jazz, soul, gospel, and blues to the contemporary, genre-blending work of Lucinda Williams and the ambient soundscapes of Daniel Lanois.

The second single “River of Life” is steeped in New Orleans Jazz/Americana with its skewed street parade rhythms and playful horns.

“This track is an homage to my mom. A second line for her passing. The ebb and flow of love and loss. She passed away when I was 19 and continues to be a guiding light in my life. Music is something we so intimately shared, so I’ll continue to honor her through song.”

The Darkest Light is set to be released in 2022.
